Spice Girls to re-unite?

Next year will mark the 20th anniversary of the Spice Girls debut album Spice. With this milestone comes a lot of enthusiastic speculation for a reunion of the wildly famous English pop group.

PEOPLE caught up with Mel B (aka Scary Spice) on Sunday night at the Essence Street Style Awards during NYFW. When asked if we can look forward to a reunion, she said, "I am hoping so! It's our 20th anniversary next year, so – once we decide, and get things going – then I'll be the first one yelling it from the rooftops!"

You're giving us some major hope, Mel B!

The Spice Girls split in 2000 before reuniting for a world tour in 2007 and 2008. Their last performance as a group was at the London Olympics' Closing Ceremony in 2012.

In depressing news, Victoria Beckham, 41, has previously hinted that she is done with the group. Sigh.

Despite their conflicting thoughts on a reunion, the Girl Power ambassadors still remain close. In May the girls (sans Mel B) reunited at David Beckham's 40th birthday bash in Morocco, and just a month later Geri Halliwell, Emma Bunton and Melanie Chisholm were spotted spicing up the Isle of Wight Music Festival.

"If you wannabe” transported back to the '90s and can't wait until next year – tie up your pig-tails, slip on your platforms and jam out to those previously unreleased tracks from earlier this year.
