Chelsea Manager, Jose Mourinho, has been charged by the Football Association for misconduct relating to comments he made during his post match interview after his team lost 3-1 to Southampton on Saturday.
The Portuguese claimed that the referees were afraid to award his side big decisions.
“The referees are afraid to give decisions to Chelsea. Once more, we don’t get the penalty at a crucial moment in the game,” he said.
He contended that his on-loan Colombian striker was denied a clear penalty a situation that dampened his team's spirit in a game that saw them beaten convincingly despite taking the lead via a Willian freekick.
“The penalty in this game is crucial because my team, at the moment, the first negative thing that happens, they collapse.
“The penalty was a giant penalty, and after that, the team lost even more confidence.”
According to the FA statement charging him: “It is alleged his remarks constitute improper conduct in that they allege and/or imply bias on the part of a match official or match officials and/or bring the game into disrepute.”
The Portuguese has until Thursday evening to respond.
