Jose Mourinho has flexed his muscles by dropping four of his usual first-picks for tonight’s Champions League opener at Stamford Bridge.
The Blues take on Maccabi Tel Aviv sitting just four points off the bottom of the Premier League and seemingly in turmoil. And yesterday, a tetchy Mourinho showed his hand in his pre-match press conference by revealing that he will ‘try a different dynamic’.
And according to the Daily Mirror, Gary Cahill is poised to partner Kurt Zouma in defence, while Cesar Azpilicueta is set to move to right-back, with summer signing Baba Rahman at left-back, Ruben Loftus-Cheek is expected to line up alongside Cesc Fabregas in midfield with Loic Remy up front instead of Costa.

Mourinho admitted:
I know what you will say.
If I leave out Azpilicueta, it’s because I have a problem with him. Same with Terry. Same with Fabregas. I know the consequences.
But I cannot be worried about what you say or write. I have to be just worried about my team and players.
Yes, I will make a couple of changes because I have to try a different dynamic, I have to try a couple of different faces, and to give chances to people who have not been playing but have been working hard.
